Concept: These dueling podcasts are tracking updates in the Elizabeth Holmes / Theranos trial.
Benefits of Bad Blood: Carreyrou’s reporting was key to unraveling Theranos’s secrets, and they threw legal threats at him throughout reporting. He’s also listed as a potential defense witness. So his coverage feels personal.

Fairwork Podcast
Creators: Oxford Internet Institute and WZB Berlin Social Science Centre
Concept: Stories of the demands of gig work and attempts at organizing gig workers. Starts out with London-centric episodes; newer international episodes need to be more of an overview which gives them a less direct / detailed view (compared to RestOfWorld and other social media reporting I’ve seen on Indian delivery workers).

Concept: Neo-Nazis rallied and attacked in Portland, Oregon with impunity in the late 80s / early 90s. The podcast covers their appearance in the music scene, white nationalist violence in Oregon, and the punks and activists who fought back against them. You learn a lot about Portland weirdness, anti-racist skinheads, and the music scene.
Schedule: Episodes were released in late 2020 to January 2021, with bonus episodes last published in May.

The Other Latif

Concept: NPR co-host Latif Nasser tells the story of Abdul Latif Nasser, a detainee at Guantánamo Bay who shares his name. Nasser was cleared for release in 2016, blocked by international politics and the Trump administration, and finally left detention in July 2021.

The War on Cars
Concept: The go-to podcast on all things bikes, transit, and community planning, with no sympathy for NIMBYs.
